Old House On Durhamville Road

Recently someone told me about an old store near Henning, TN. I set a day last week to head up that way. After pulling the address up on my GPS I headed out on another rural West Tennessee adventure.
My first stop was an abandoned house that caught my eye. I like the fact that there are no leaves on the trees right now. It seems to add to the vacant feel. At this time of the morning there was still a bit of that neat light left from the sunrise. There's a layer of yellow below the blue sky. It really adds to the scene. The golden sunlight glows over the front entryway and tree on the right.
As I head down the road I notice several old buildings near the intersection of Henning Orysa Road and Durhamville Road. I park at the Cowboy Church and put my neat-o handmade sign on the back window which says, "Just so you know what I'm doing here. I'm photographing." I have my business card taped on the sign. Before I go out next time I'll make a nicer one and laminate it. Last minute thought on that sign, so nothing fancy.
Across the street from the Cowboy Church is a really neat old home. I was very fortunate to meet some really nice members of the Cowboy Church who told me a bit about the house. The back part of the house was a girl's school where etiquette was taught. That's something that most girls seem to know nothing about these days. Some do, but most young girls these days are immodest. OK, enough of the opinion, here are pictures of the house.
Yes, I did have a cup of coffee with me. I guess you could say it was a very good cup. One of my favorite things about the day is meeting nice people. This isn't all of my adventure that day, but it takes a while to edit all these images. Eventually, I make it to my original destination, but I had some other neat stops along the way. Enjoy this old house while it's still standing. It will be coming down soon.

Christy, the house photo in this blog post is missing. I am interested in seeing it too. Thanks! Billie
