Welcome To The Rusty Car Show

While I was riding the bus for my son's kindergarten field trip, we drove through Gates, TN.  Riding on a bus through rural Tennessee is a perfect way to scout out locations.  There really isn't much in Gates, but it did have a couple lots of rusty vintage cars.

I went back to Gates with my camera, but didn't get there until later in the morning after I had stopped at several other rural locations.   At that point I just spent time in the lot closest to the main road.  I will tackle the other lot another day.

One thing that was really challenging about this rusty car lot is power lines and poles.  The cars were lined up right near some railroad tracks and along the railroad tracks were a lot of power lines and poles.  No matter what angle I shot from those wires were in my photos.  Some of the photos I left the power lines in, but the majority of them I removed.  I did shoot from a low angle so the wires would be in the upper half or sky area of my composition.  This made it easier for removal.  In the end I have spent quite a bit of time in Photoshop removing those lines.  It definitely makes a difference to remove the lines in most of the photos.  Less distracting.  The other car lot probably won't be as full of power lines.  Maybe the bigger issue is snakes.  I didn't make any snake discoveries in this lot, but it looks like it could be the perfect place for snakes or big rats.

Enough said, welcome to the Rusty Car Show!
