A Pediatric Dental Office Even Adults Would Love

Brink Pediatric Dental Assoc-48 Yesterday was the Open House and Ribbon Cutting event for Brink Pediatric Dental Associates in Munford, TN.  Our family dentist and my daughter's orthodontist is located in the same office complex.  I've seen the progress on the exterior of the office every time we have a dental visit.  It was such an impressive surprise to see the recently finished interior of this dental office.

The inside makes me think of a walk in the woods where you discover a secret tree house.  The waiting room is huge with two seating areas, TVs and a tree where you can go inside and play video games.  There are all kinds of little details throughout this place; woodsy scenes painted on the walls in many of the rooms, a bird house is hung where an image of a tree is painted, there are leaves hanging from the ceiling to make it feel like you are standing under a huge shade tree, real tree branches sit in a corner with a hanging birdhouse, the chairs are made from tree branches.  Old barn wood and hinges add to the rustic outdoor feel.

Local artists decorate the office.  The artist of the framed works around the office is Joseph Baker.  Joseph does beautiful work using many different mediums.  If you are interesting in seeing more of Joseph's work, use this link:  http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/joseph-baker.html  The artist responsible for the wall murals is Victor Moore.

The technical aspects of photographing this event.  I used the widest angle lens I have, a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8-4.5.  This is definitely one of those situations where I wish I had a full frame camera.  It's hard to capture small spaces with a cropped sensor, but the Sigma did a decent job.  For inside captures I used the 580ex II flash and bounced off the walls.  Bouncing flash off the wall leads to weird color casts so I corrected all that in Lightroom.  The first image below of the building exterior is a handheld, 3 exposure HDR image processed in Photomatix.  The second exterior image is a single exposure.
